Noahs Ark – is one of the Kettuvallam masterpieces floating on the serene waters of river Mandovi. Also popularly known as the House Boats in Kerala, 'Kettu' means "to tie" and 'vallam' meaning "boat", is a unique and ancient technique of boatbuilding. Noahs Ark is built using a special wooden plank of 'Iroko' also known as African teak tightened together. Legend has it that it was a British gentleman who was the brain behind building bamboo roof shades over the boats, which led to the creation of exquisite floating houses, and Noah's Ark is one such beauty!
